During my recent journey with Global Outreach, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how small actions can bring immense change. One of our team members, Daniel, approached me with a special request—to help introduce a solar-powered lantern project to a remote village with no electricity. He mentioned that our host, Manuel, would greatly benefit from this gift. Though I had never led such a presentation before, I agreed.
The next day, just before sunset, Daniel asked if I was ready. We hadn’t even set up a demonstration yet! I whispered a prayer for guidance, took a deep breath, and gathered my thoughts. As I spoke to Manuel and the villagers, I explained how the solar lanterns could provide light for studying, working, and gathering as a family at night. They listened intently, eyes wide with anticipation.
After demonstrating the simple use of the lanterns, I shared a deeper truth. Just as these lights would push away the darkness, there is another light that never fades—the Light of the World, Jesus Christ. I explained how He illuminates our hearts, dispels fear, and leads us on the path of truth.
As we handed out the lanterns, Manuel stood in quiet contemplation. Later that evening, as we shared a meal, he approached our group. With tears in his eyes, he said he wanted to experience the Light we had spoken of. That night, under a sky full of stars, Manuel gave his life to Christ.
Sometimes, the simplest of gifts open doors to eternal blessings.
