On a recent humanitarian trip with Hands of Grace, I had the incredible opportunity to share about a medical aid initiative that could change lives. One of our team leaders, Paul, asked me to explain how a basic first-aid kit could be a lifeline for those in remote areas. He pointed out that our translator, Sofia, would be returning to her village soon, and she had no medical supplies available. Though I wasn’t a medical professional, I agreed
to share what I knew.
The following morning, Paul asked if I was prepared. We hadn’t even gathered all the materials yet! I said a quick prayer for wisdom, reviewed the instructions, and stepped forward in faith. Sofia, along with several community members, gathered as I demonstrated the basics—treating wounds, preventing infections, and recognizing signs of illness.
Once I finished, I shared an even more important message. While these supplies could heal minor injuries, there is a greater healing we all need—the healing of our souls. I spoke about Jesus, the Great Physician, who not only heals our brokenness but offers eternal hope and peace.
As we handed Sofia a well-stocked first-aid kit, she expressed her deep gratitude. Later that day, she returned to us, saying she wanted to accept the hope and healing Christ offers. In that moment, I was reminded that true healing goes beyond the physical—it’s about restoring the soul.
